American Battery Technology Company (ABAT) has been awarded a $150 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to build its second lithium-ion battery recycling facility, capable of processing 100,000 tonnes of battery materials annually. Key partners in the project include BASF, Siemens, and Argonne National Laboratory, among others.
Solid Power (SLDP), a developer of solid-state battery technology, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to receive up to $50 million in grant funding for manufacturing expansion. The company plans to use the funds to install the first continuous manufacturing process for sulfide-based solid electrolyte materials for all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) and expand production capacity at its Thornton plant. Currently producing 30 metric tons of electrolyte annually.
NANO Nuclear Energy has contracted GNS Gesellschaft für Nuklear-Service mbH to optimize the transportation system for its nuclear fuel technology. The collaboration will focus on designing an efficient HALEU (High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium) transport solution that can accommodate multiple fuel types, including TRISO particles and molten salt reactor fuels.
Oklo Inc (OKLO) has finalized a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho Operations Office, advancing to the next phase of site preparation for its advanced fission power plant in Idaho. The agreement allows Oklo to conduct geotechnical assessments, environmental surveys, and infrastructure planning at the preferred site.
